Walleye & Northern Fishing for June

Just wanted to share some of the catches that have been coming in. With the late Ice out on Red Lake this season, the fishing pattern has been a little different for most of our guests here at Sunset Lodge with water temps staying cool well into June but that didn't slow down the fishing at all. Everyone has been getting good numbers and we are seeing lots of big fish.

In early June, Shane landed a 45" Northern which had a 16" girth; a really beautiful fish. Hope to get a picture of that one Dennis. The group caught a lot of 20" to 28" walleye.

Craig and Jeff had a great trip during the first week of the season with 7 Northern over 40" the largest was 45" ..........and 15 walleye over 27" the largest being 29".

Now Becky got in trouble this year when Hubby Craig locked into a 40" Laker on walleye setup. There is no picture for this one.......Becky forgot the camera. Jeez.....good job there were 2 witnesses in the boat Craig! Otherwise we might take this to be a fishy story!

Ralph also gets a mention for his 29 7/8" walleye which weighed in at about 10lb.

The Silewski group also had a good week. They saw a lot of nice size fish. Randy caught a nice sized walleye that was "as round as it was long....just a pig of a walleye!"

The best part of this report is that everyone practiced Catch, Photo, Release on these trophies!
