Fishing Trip Countdown
Get this widget!
Need to know how many days until you travel to Sunset Lodge on Red Lake for your annual Canadian Fishing Trip? We have added this widget to mark the days until Walleye Season Opener - May 16, 2009.
Fishing Camp Owners in Winter.....
Everyone always asks us "what do you all winter when Sunset Lodge finally shuts down for the season"? Some of you may know this already, but our family is a different sort of rink rat! Not all Canucks play hockey after all. Rene & I both curl out of the Red Lake District Curling Club.
We just finished the Legion bonspiel with Dave (Rene's brother) & Debbie. With the Mens' bonspiel and the Mixed bonspiel coming up we will be spending a few more weekends in the rink!
Jeremy is pretty wrapped up in curling as well. He curls as part of the school phys. ed. program and the Club youth curling program (coached by Mom).

Fishing & White Tails Mix
This year Sunset Lodge had the opportunity to participate in the White Tails Unlimited, Cedar Wapsi Chapter, Janesville, IA annual banquet. Ralph F. of Independance, IA was the successful bidder for our trip - a 7 day fishing package plan for 2 persons. The banquet is an important fund raising event for the chapter and we are glad that we will have the opportunity to meet Ralph and his party when they hit the waters of Red Lake, Ontario this summer. Thanks to the organizers of the event, we hope it was very successful!

Northern Fishing at Sunset Lodge in 2008

Well, Dennis promised pictures from his June '08 fishing trip to Sunset Lodge. We have been waiting to see this Northern they were talking up. Shane is all smiles when he landed this brute! 45" Northern pike with a 16" girth is a nice healthy fish. Even though the group landed lots of 20" - 28" walleye, this baby took the prize. Ken took a bit of a ribbing this year when he pulled a fish basket out of the waters of Red Lake. He took it all in stride and I'm pretty sure that he has an eye on pulling in a 46" Northern when he visits Sunset Lodge in June later this year!
