Yep the opening of walleye season here on Red Lake, Ontario is fast approaching. While it got a bit cold last night, at Sunset Lodge, we have actually been having some good weather. I was scanning through some of the fishing pages and Walleye Central's Ron Anlauf published an article on "Early Season Walleye" that I thought I would share.
You don't have to worry about contacting the DNR/MNR - you know that Red Lake has an excellent walleye fishing.

What do Walleye See?
This bit of walleye research was clipped and scanned and forwarded to us by a fellow fisherman but we are unsure of the source. Goes to support our theory of having orange, yellow and chartreuse and red in the tackle box when you head out on the waters of Red Lake for some walleye fishing. Kind of interesting....Sunset Lodge fishermen also swear by white. What is your favorite set up?

Opening Week Fishing at Sunset Lodge
Well, walleye opener is May 17th this year and I thought I would share photos sent by the Hobart party who are going to make the trip to Sunset Lodge again this year and lock into the excitement of early Walleye and Northern fishing on Red Lake.
